Job Description
The job involves careful proofreading and editing of scientific journals for quality of language, grammar, spellings, spacing, alignments, and so on, before they are published. The job also entails liaising with authors, team coordinators, and web producers on a daily basis to meet the production targets with the requisite quality standards.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Manage all phases of the production process (copyediting, formatting, proofing, validating online documents, etc)
• Ensure that articles are produced in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining high quality standards
• Understand tasks, targets and timelines. Create and maintain tracking sheets with data relevant to production of journal(s).
• Submit edited content in prescribed format and recommended methods
• Mark major changes/modifications and assign to authors
• Work closely with team coordinators and web producers (mostly remotely located).
• Responsible for quality of content as per guidelines and checklists

Qualifications
• Graduation in any stream – BA, BSc, BCom, B-Tech, or any Masters degree
• Excellent command over English – both written and oral
• Perfect understanding of English grammar and usages
• Publishing experience is not mandatory, but would be a plus
• Familiarity with scientific terminology would be a plus, but not necessary

• Extreme attention to fine details
• Aesthetic sense as applied to publishing tasks
• Aptitude for proofreading and content-refining tasks
• Multi-tasking capacity and ability to work under tight deadlines
• Excellent computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign would be a plus
• Extremely good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
